War is hell
Sad sad sad to see it end. Tonight's episode was one of the best things i've ever seen on TV. I would have appreciated an extra 2 or 3 episodes dealing with Basilone's recruits or the Navy. That episode was extremely hard to watch. Especially the scene with the injured Japanese woman in the hut. I'd love

Of might and men.
A few weeks back I was working at my Army/Navy Surplus store and an old vet came in. He was looking for the typical sort of things that old vets look for at surplus stores. Well we got to talking and I mentioned to him that I had been watching The Pacific on HBO. Turns out he served with Basilone.

Yeah, I liked Chuckler. I feel like his character sort of got pushed by the wayside.

Don't want to see it end.
Another fantastic episode this week. The brutality that is associated with the Pacific theater was on full display here. I'm kind of bummed that the series is going to be leaving Sledge next week. I've really enjoyed Seda's performance and the men surrounding him (especially Snafu and

The Alien franchise surely isn't exhausted. The Alien vs. Predator franchise on the other hand needs to take a never ending hypersleep nap. The last three movies (both AvPs as well as Resurrection) abused Mr. Giger's creation. The closest thing we've had to a true Alien experience in the last two decades was Alien3.

Each week amazes.
The series has progressively gotten better and better each week. Gunney is quickly becoming my favorite secondary character, Snafu is a close second. I really enjoyed seeing the Japanese perspective for once. I was expecting some hand to hand combat during that night scene, surprised they haven't

Jap gun called a Nambu.

Dread
Very solid episode although I found it to be a bit short. It was nice to see some actual daytime combat occur instead of the chaotic night battles we've been treated to every week. The overwhelming sense of dread that is going to stick with the series for the next few episodes sure is present in this one. Leckie

We aint seen nothing yet.
I have a feeling that The Pacific is pulling punches. The first three episodes are just a taste of what's to come. I read Sledge's account With the Old Breed a few years ago and it was beyond intense. Sledge was part of some of the biggest and bloodiest battles of the war. Iwo Jima and

Trudy
Thank god it's coming back this summer. I want to buy all three, place them around my living room and pretend that I'm watching Mad Men with my three favorite characters. I do wish there was a Trudy doll though. Such an attractive little Jewess.

For your wine
Orgies are not too much fun if no one wants to do with you. And that's all she wrote.

Effing Greta Gerwig. That scene of her casually breaking up with her boyfriend while eating ice cubes in Hannah Takes The Stairs really irked me for some reason. Sometimes I find her adorable and other times she annoys the hell out of me. She was tolerable in House of The Devil. The lead is far dreamier though.

?
Everything is Illuminated and (to a lesser extent) Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close were both incredible novels. I will read Eating Animals but I'm not going to pretend I'm not upset that it isn't a new novel. Write some new fiction already. I need a new favorite book.

Listen
Yes the single player was a bit short but what it lacked in length it gained in content. There were some absolutely stunning set pieces in this game. Driving in a convoy and watching Russian paratroopers land in suburban Virgina sent shivers down my spine. This game is rife with holy shit moments. If you're at

Alien/Aliens
Saving Private Ryan
High Fidelity

I saw it. Dark as hell but a beautiful film to watch. Gainsbourg is nice to look at even when going bat shit crazy. The self inflicted female castration scene is a bit hard to watch though. Chaos reigns.

There is one in the east village.

Dead Space
On the topic of scary entertainment that kept me up at night I'd have to go with AvP on the Jaguar, Dead Space on xbox360 and of course the Exorcist (as well as the Exorcism of Emily Rose). That scene in the dorm room when her friend wakes up and finds her contorted on the floor is terrifying.
