These guys clinched a place on the "Year in Band Names" list

Looks like Laurel Canyon rejected the Laurel Canyon Sound: Dawes is #522 in California.

Quick stats note (fun!):

I would have loved to keep that going…GZA's opening to "Clan" tied in perfectly with people swarming the house!

And Melvins and Wu-Tang in the episode, too!

I'm from the Bay Area, my wife is from Jersey…the Springsteen / Bon Jovi dynamic is very, very real.

Great interview.

"Are you Jesus?"

I could see this being an interesting break:

Totally worth your time

Also, Madlib or Oh No need to get on this track, pronto:

This is a brilliant idea.

No sarcasm here: I'd be fascinated to hear the rationale for the Metallica/Lang Lang arrangement on "One"…what a trainwreck.

Strike Yeezus and replace with Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City…but yes

KANSAS CITY VERRÜCKT FOOTBALL RULES!

"Shady Lane" has a great one

This song is amazing, and is the one that sold me on Pavement (not too difficult as the second track, but still…)

I say this as someone who celebrates the entire Pavemen/Malkmus catalog: for me, the biggest difference is Malkmus solo output never hits the more aggressive notes of Pavement albums (though it seems like more a progression of what happened with Pavement than a conscious split).

Agreed, this was a great review. I try not to get sucked in to the grading thing too often, but I'd hold this up as an example of a grade that's well supported by the review (as opposed to some of the more arbitrary ones I see.)

That sounds like a damn good show
