I don't think sex requires vulnerability or interpersonal connection at all. Ever had a meaningless encounter? With a total stranger? Under a bridge? Oh….well, perhaps I divulge too much. But anyway, the loss of physical control for someone like Hannibal gives him MORE power, because it make him seem vulnerable. But

Knowing these writers, I expect a twist. And you're right—why throw the scent to Miriam's discovery? Unless he's really confident that she doesn't remember him and it implicates someone else? And why leave clues that exonerate Will? Tis a puzzlement.

I guess that's what I meant by my comment. Bedelia sees through him, but she doesn't really stand up to him. (Not that I blame her—I'd be outta there too!). Of course, it's easy for Clarice to do that because he's in prison by SOL.

Yes, she's his intellectual equal, and she made him feel vulnerable. But in the end, she was terrified of him, and she took off. I'm talking about someone who really stands and does battle with him.

Exactly. That's why I think it's not the best lead-in show for Hannibal. But as you say, I'm not sure what show would be.

I think he IS all that and a big of chips to her. We know a lot more than she does, and god knows, he's gorgeous. But I know what you mean. Even I, who think Mads is hotter than a thousand suns, had serious pause with the whole thing.

It's not that I think watching network is "lowly". It it's a good show, I don't care what network it's on. But I don't think the networks are nearly up to par with what AMC, HBO, PBS and Netflix are doing. And people don't watch TV the way they used to. I came to "Hannibal" through Amazon. And now, I tune in because

Didn't mean to insult your show! As I said, I haven't seen enough of it. But the quality of "Hannibal" is in a class by itself.

I mean the big three networks—ABC, CBS or NBC. PBS is it's own animal.

Both the Emmys and the Oscars are very America/Hollywood-centric. They're just popularity contests, really. I can't imagine them giving an award to a European actor. A Brit, yes. So Hugh could win. But a Dane—no. But that's okay—he won Best Actor at Cannes, which is more prestigious than the Academy Awards.

Eh, kinda bland.

Oh no, I love Bedelia. And yes, they had great chemistry, but she wasn't really his equal, because she was scared of him and took off. I'm talking about someone who can actually make Hannibal feel vulnerable, and go toe to toe.

I miss Swiggetty Swag the Ravenstag.

He's like the Stephen Colbert of this site.

Oh man. I live in upstate NY. Spring is so overdue, I'll take even corpse flowers at this point!

I love a good mixed metaphor, so mix away. Hard to say if that frisson between them was sexual tension or fear on her part, but they were well-matched. I always wonder if perhaps there had been an attraction between them in the past, or if she was the "affair" Alana alluded to in the kitchen that time.

They don't watch on Fridays but they DVR. I do believe that NBC is counting DVR usage as well as ratings.

Well put. I have cable and I discovered "Hannibal" through Amazon, not NBC. I never watch regular network TV. So it is in the least likely place for its audience.

I only caught a little of "Grimm" but thought it was laughable in comparison to "Hannibal". Really bad special effects and cliched dialogue and very cheesy. I don't think it's a good lead-in at all. But I also don't think ANY network show would be. "Hannibal" is just too good for network TV.

I am more or less repeating what everyone else said. But I don't think it has anything to do with Mads being European. He has a HUGE fanbase both here and abroad. This show is just not a mainstream show, period. It's like "Sherlock" or "Breaking Bad". They are very popular shows, but they are not network shows. I
