Season 2 gets better as it continues, and doesn't botch the finale.

Compared to LWS, HACF has the benefits of a wealthier audience, no Breaking Bad lead-in to artificially drive up interest, and being critically approved.

There's a few other reasons the renewal makes business sense. AMC owns all the rights (and licensing profits), the audience is small but wealthy, and it's a critically well-received show that's not a spinoff.

Not really surprising considering AMC also renewed TURN. They should promote HACF's excellent second season by re-airing it after TWD.
