Oh how I have searched and searched for that Brides of Funkenstein album, to no avail. I've seen the Eddie Hazel lp on ebay for hundreds of dollars. Way too rich for my blood.
I could never stand Primus either. Then again, I could never stand Zappa, so maybe that's a genre that's not for me. Props to them for getting a Tom Waits guest spot and playing on Bone Machine though.
I feel kind of stupid now for not getting that interpretation on first viewing. My brother is already bigger than me, so if he gets smarter than me I don't know what I will do.
Jimmy Scott
is fantastic. Maybe because of Twin Peaks, I prefer is late in life recordings to the much smoother sounding stuff he recorded as a young man. The cracks in his voice lend them a pathos similar to the late Johnny Cash recordings.
I know "auteur" isn't literally a synonym for "good director", but it may as well be. It just sounds like such a beret wearing, goatee stroking term to use and it really adds nothing to any discussion of film.
The jazz reviews at all music
all seem to be written by bearded, tweed jacketed pipe smokers who know everything about jazz but have no soul. Anything that smacks of fusion, or is catchy or danceable gets completely dismissed. I'll bet they also lament the fact that nobody is interested in jazz anymore, with their…
I won't use the word "auteur" because it's pretentious crap, and it doesn't mean anything other than "good director"
Knee jerking aside
The film created a pretty fascinating world worth exploring, and as long as they keep what is interesting about that world intact, it could be a great show. And the Sci Fi Channel has at least one very good show under its belt, so I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. If the show…
"bullshit" like Labyrinth? Fuck you. His "Oh, I'm goth now" music is the most bullshit he has ever done, and Trent Reznor is a pretentious hack that Bowie glommed onto because he was popular at the time. I haven't really heard much about Bowie and Reznor hanging out since Reznor dropped off the map.
Well, I normally dislike this argument, but I think the similarities to mainstream soap operas and lurid erotic thrillers are very much intentional. Partially because I think that Lynch really does like that stuff, and partially because it makes the mindfuck stuff stand out more when it's against a familiar…

D. B. Sweeney is the poor man's D. B. Cooper
Paris Hilton's key to success was being born rich. I wish I had thought of that.
Thieves' Highway was a revelation when I first saw it. It's really unlike any other classic Hollywood film I have seen.
I like their t-shirts a lot. Nice materials, good fit, nice colors, not too expensive.
Maybe if your "actual human emotion" didn't look exactly like clumsy promotional language, fitting in would be easier.
