I agree that "Ep 1" could be interesting in context of distribution and its narrative arc. Another option is "Man on the Street," especially because it was so hyped that it would be the episode that would shift Dollhouse into the Whedon zone, as well as curing cancer. It fell short of both, but at the time, it did

I'm an Angel > Buffy person, but I think Angel more satisfyingly plotted than Buffy - it has a shagginess that comes together better, and a sense of character arcs that feel more organic (and the character/plot dimensions are better integrated). But I'm the odd duck who thinks s4 of Angel is the best season of the two

My first reaction to the ending was "please cast Lena Olin as Mrs. Clarke!"

"The closing images of this episode made me think next year could be really interesting—if not an outright train wreck."
Stay tuned next season for another installment of @ToddVanDerWerff's addiction narrative, where he goes searching for one more hit off Glee's emotional crackpipe. They keep giving him just enough to

Bill Lawrence took an impromptu Twitter poll today for peoples opinions on Travis/Laurie. The results:
"30% yes 40% no, 20% yes, but not yet, 10 % still not sure"

For the etymologically inclined: the term "dirtbag" was popularized earlier in the 1980s as one of the sanitized insults used by Hill Street Blues grimy cop Mick Belker, along with "hairball" and "dog breath." I can't help but think that PA's use of dirtbag was a parody of Belker.

Is Rockford Files the best American TV drama of the 1970s? I'd say yes, and I'm not sure what other dogs are really in the hunt: Columbo, Quincy M.E., Lou Grant, White Shadow (both of which split with the 1980s), maybe Dallas?

Widow is actually my favorite of his books (or maybe tied with Cider House), and one of my top books ever - there are scenes in Widow that regularly replay in my head frequently (the description of the car crash, Ruth in the prostitute's closet). And I find Owen Meaney to be quite overrated, mostly because the ALL

Angry Todd is Good Todd. Thanks for suffering for our enjoyment!

Except that Taxi's ratings in the early 80s would make it far in a way the most popular show on TV today. That has changed.

How about a live chat simultaneously running alongside a Taxi episode so we can all talk about how much better it is than 2BG?
