    It's like the difference between drinking at a dive bar and drinking at Chuck E Cheese. Anybody that has been to NYC more than twice avoids Times Square like the plague. Still, there was nothing creepier in the 70s than the current dirty Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse dudes wandering around Times Square right now.

    I always just thought of it as him being so ingrained in the shittiest and seediest parts of society that he didn't understand that EVERYBODY wasn't like that. He understood enough to dress in a nice (I guess it was nice, the 70s was a weird time) suit but didn't understand what type of movie a 'normal' person would

    This movie is SO 1970's NYC that it feels like a period piece created much later. It always blows my mind knowing that NYC was actually that way when they filmed. So great.
