No, I'm with you, as I'm sure are other people who listen to music with their ears.

With regard to Swans, I know all about opinions and experimentation and whatnot, but are you guys sure you were listening to this record with your ears, as opposed to your rhetorical faculties? Because I listened to it expecting music and instead I got Yoko Ono and Animal Collective, a.k.a. con "artism", a.k.a.

It needed to be said and I'm glad someone did.

That's because "Andrei Rublev" is dull and inscrutable. I like formalism as much as the next person does, but showing "Andrei Rublev" to students is cruel. As a student, if I had to choose between "Andrei Rublev" and "Jeanne Dielman", I'd choose the latter every time. It's not a biopic, but the effect is the same:

Funny you mention Janis Joplin because she was what initially got me into classic rock at 14. Back then, I was all about Janis and Grace Slick and The Who, and artists like that. But the older I get, the more I immerse myself in genres that influenced those artists I used to listen to at 14. These days, I'm more

This book couldn't have come out at a better time. I got it on Kindle after reading this review and it was $15 well spent.

I've always felt that James Bond as a character was supposed to embody a certain idea of Britishness, which is why I've always thought Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan were the two "best" Bonds. They were very British, in that they had this politeness about them that could quickly turn into cruelty if the circumstances

I agree. Sometimes you get the sense that actors who do these interviews don't remember much about their movies so they talk out of their asses just to say something, not to mention hear themselves talk. Or, for whatever reason, they fail to put together three sentences about working on a particular movie. Not so with

"Scream" was my generation's "Halloween." I have very vivid memories of watching "Scream" for the first time because the opening sequence traumatized me. I was also 11. I was an athlete back then and we had an athletic camp at school every year taking place over the winter break. It was just something they organized
