I don't think much of "Model Shop" although I think Demy's "The Young Girls of Rochefort" is one of the greatest movies ever made. He made a better film going against the grain of the hippie movement than he did when trying to evoke or appropriate it.

Horseshit. There were probably more bullets fired in this movie than by the entirety of the LAPD during the decade of the 1940s.
I generally like his writing and have purchased his books but like a lot of writers on AV Club his work suffers from being constantly larded with political correctness.
