Well if you want to watch radical chic lectures on Maoism for 2 hours those films I mentioned are delightful and cinematically at least better than most of his output from the 80s and 90s.

You are right but to me it left us with a far lesser creature.  Try watching "Comment ca va," "Numero Deaux" or "La Gai Savoir (Joy of Learning)."
