I'm not denying the success of these kind of shows they are ideal for network broadcast television and do a great job keeping viewers once they tune in. I'm just sharing my personal preference for how I tend to consume them. I enjoy a good L&O episode, but watching one does not compel me to watch several at one

BTW, given the usual chronological format of the show, shouldn't they have named it 'Order and Law'? Just sayin'.

Apparently Public Radio International is producing a radio show based on The Tobo Files. One immediate result is older episodes are no longer available for download. So far new podcast episodes seem to be produced in the same format as always.in reply to S.Earl

Maybe working at Microsoft has killed his soul.

Can you elaborate? Doesn't he get a pass for instigating and producing The Tobolowsky Files?

Law and Order - particularly the seasons you outline -  is like good comfort food: you always know what you're going to get, and it will satisfy. As the model of an episodic police procedural however, I'm not sure it's ideal as a marathon show. There's just nothing from one episode to compel you to watch the next, but

It's been ages since I've seen the movie, but from what I remember Dennis Quaid plays a cop, so the officers who place the magnet next to the tape aren't incompetent - they are his buddies and do so intentionally. Since Ellen Barkin is playing the prosecutor, she gets really miffed but there's no way of proving they

Using a magnet to destroy evidence in Breaking Bad reminded me of the movie The Big Easy, where I believe Dennis Quaid intentionally throws a large magnet into a store window so that it will be picked up by his fellow police officers and strategically placed next to an incriminating video tape in a property room to

I think I you want to be reductive, there are many Olympic events summer and winter that make you scratch your head and wonder what they have to do with the Olympic ideal. Personally, I could do without any sport where the outcome is determined by judges, but obviously many people love to watch figure skating and

Yeah, heck I can run 100 meters. Just not very fast.

Agreed - also with events longer than 400M runners do not stay in their lanes which would further complicate matters.
