My comment is based on "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" cartoon which shows Captain America fighting WWII against … Hydra.
I suspect that Marvel, realizing they had a much bigger media profile, didn't want to be accused of trivializing WWII, so they subbed in Hydra for the Nazis. Or maybe they were just trying

I think you have it backwards:
"Hey, Marvel, are you trivializing a time in our history when the seemingly reasonable people of a country decided to follow an anti-Semitic madman and attempted to commit genocide by making them the villains in a movie about a bunch of superheroes?"
"What? Are you talking about the Nazis?

Racist.

Yeah.
"One guy"…. Sure.

Do you really want to say that about an actress who has I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, The A-Team and one of the Texas Chainsaw remakes on her resume….?
Apology accepted.

Rip off! Based on the photo, I came here to find out more about the girl-on-girl scene and it's not even mentioned! Well, guess my fan-fiction page will have to pick up the slack … AGAIN!

And you call yourself "Human"….

I'd rather a series about McG.

All work and no Olivia makes Maya … something something.

Man of Steel: You People Already Hate It But You'll Pay To See It Anyway …Plus: Batman

So it's just like real life then….?

I used to have Engelbert Humperdinck's home phone number. True story.

[Notices tires still deflated, no matter how much effort is made, swears to Cameron Diaz this has never happened before, cries]

Slap white paint on that mug though and you might have something that looks like the Joker.

Poor Alice! I thought "The L Word" was known for being over-the-top (One of the reasons I enjoyed it, actually…) and didn't think she stood out in that regard. (How could anyone register as too quirky and arrogant next to Jenny freakin' Shecter…?)
But I think you answer your own critique since this was earlier in the

BTW, I did think of one, since this is more than TV or movies: Black Panther & Storm. Man, I wish Marvel had left that one alone…

I think you're entirely correct that the problem lies in what's been presented, at least as much as what the AV Club chose. But I also think that points to the problem with introducing minority characters, no matter what minority (racial, sexual, religious, etc.) they represent. The characters are often burdened with

I'm going to make this obligatory reference so that people can sneer and downvote me:
This sure is a white, hetero-centric list. One Asian woman and one bi-racial woman on the whole list…?

No, they're bringing back Mexico Classic!

I don't think it's the woman who will be disappointed in that scenario….
