I agree! While I dig on references to Canadian History (I studied that shit in school, yo) my enjoyment of Beaton's comics is more than just "oh I get the reference!"

She can kick over my garbage can any day
read that as "it's basically a retarded Adventures Of Babysitting"
C'mon who's with me here
Yeah major dissonance going on here between grade and review.
goddammit now i'm facebook stalking av club writers
and it is entirely this post's fault
TV shows your grandparents watched
Mine watched The Price is Right pretty religiously. My tie to the show ended when Bob Barker left though
I did not know that this was Ferrell's last episode, and I thought the sexism angle worked pretty well in parts. Like when Andy enters the inner circle, shouts "THE MAN CAVE" (or whatever) and starts barking? That made me laugh.
weird pacing?
Anyone else feel that episodes pace felt off tonight? Especially in the first half. I guess considering the whole thing took place in one room (bottle episode!) there was a lot of just standing around, and not much forward momentum, considering someone was giving birth etc
ok but while we're on Terriers, I first thought that Holder was going to be a less interesting version of Britt, but I've been pleasantly surprised with where his character has gone
Top Chef Canada
McNutt maybe you'll have an opinion on this, but I'm thinking of going with the Canadian version instead this season. There is no way I can watch two concurrent season of Top Chef at once and I think in this case my modest patriotism is going to win out, assuming of course that Top Chef Canada doesn't…
o'leary
Ne has a news type show on the CBC as well (lang and o'leary exchange iir?) and he plays the character of "rich asshole" so well that I don't find it nearly as annoying as I could or should. Maybe it's just refreshing that here's a guy who doesn't even pretend to care about anything other than making himself…
not that I want to be the guy to bring up Noam Chomsky
but the idea that any media entity owned by a transnational corporation would ever express an overly liberal agenda is ridiculous. As a person who subscribes to various left-wing ideas (see reference to Chomsky) its pretty annoying to be lumped in with the…
also like it says in the review, The Strokes are basically mainstream now. No one is impressed if you like/dislike them.
good review Todd but…
it got a little condescending at the end.
This comment section has been kind of terrible
I recommend the nuclear option: sort newest first
This is not the first time someone has pointed out that Aubrey Plaza has limited range as an actor. While I love her in Parks & Rec, I don't think her shtick translated very well in movies like Mystery Team and Scott Pilgrim
I was surprised at how they underplayed Tracy's EGOT
I would have thought it would have merited more than a C-story considering how it's been built up in the past
These movies only succeed in making me want to play Total War
So there's that
Weird voice work?? Tim goddamn Curry did voice work on that show
Wait is Natalie Morales done with the show now?
Doesn't feel like she ever got to do anything
