Through Silver is my favorite Neurosis album, easy. But I started with Souls At Zero. Times Of Grace would also be an excellent place to start, I'd say…

I friggin' adore that Metz album. Keep an eye out for my full review in the regular A.V. music section this month (better late than never).

De nada. And great call on Blut Aus Nord.

Oh, there will be some love for the JK Flesh/Prurient split in next month's Loud. Perhaps quite a bit of love…

See, this is where grading albums just kills me sometimes. I gave the new Converge a B+, and I stand by that — mostly because, in my estimation, Jane Doe is an A (the highest grade on the A.V. scale), which makes Axe To Fall an A-, which makes All We Love a B+. Still a fucking fantastic record, though.

Just a note: The new Neurosis would have been on both John's list and mine, but I already reviewed it for the regular section. (Yes, I gave it a B-, but that's judged solely against Neurosis' own body of work; it still blows away almost everything else that came out last month.) Ditto the new Converge, which would

It's one of my favorite albums of the year. But it comes out this month, so it'll be covered in next month's column.

Thanks! The review was bound to be scrambled, sequence-wise, anyway. The CD and vinyl versions have totally different playing orders. Which, of course, was a necessity owing to the length of the songs and the time limitations of a side of an LP. Gira basically had to take the original sequence, chop it up, and turn it

They don't let us hand out A+s. Just between you and me, though…
