For a bachelorette challenge it is pretty innocuous but I would totally prefer to do one of the naughtier (and more embarrassing ones) like kissing a random dude rather than polluting my wine with ice. Especially since its the only decent drink I'm going to get all night around the shots!

Lol well done! Everyone should be able to speak faux-Punjabi. Its so expressive. :)

I really think Thud is a bad place to start even though it is one of his best books. The watch series especially rewards reading in order and it is best to start with Guards! Guards!

Yes, I probably had a similar reaction. It was incredible on a re-read though. You won't regret it.

OK Mr. Pretentious.

LOL but now I have a kindle!

Lol thats great. Yeah Delhi can be a bit of a chore but I know plenty of good people from there. Its just traditional big city rivalry. And yeah, its not the safest place.

That is some pretty solid uncleing. If she is 8, Bromeliad is a good series to start her on. Or The Amazing Maurice.

That's awesome. I wish I had my dead-tree books with me but I've been moving and they're all at my parent's place. Limits my opportunities.

Enjoy the Tiffany books. I have often thought they are some of his strongest and deepest books with his best characters. The chalk especially is a brilliant construct.

I love The Truth so much! And it gave me this:

I'm from Mumbai! And Goa is the best! Like a typical Bombay-ite I don't like Delhi. But it is a pretty city.

Do you mean Equal Rites? Wyrd Sisters was the first to present real Granny as she became.

But Pratchett never railed against the file drawer the way Vonnegut did. After all, he wrote Discworld because he loved fantasy. He simply recognized (and stood for) the best that fantasy could offer.

I was the exact opposite. I came across Pratchett first and picked up Hitchhikers to find something like Pratchett. I didn't succeed but nevertheless enjoyed Adams for what he managed to accomplish.

I know! There were three on the obit. And all of us are opinionated. :) [Rather: we want to share our loveā€¦]

That's lovely.

Moving Pictures was pretty good though. Like you said, maybe not the best introduction but it had a lot of the themes that would make later Discworld novels great and it gave us Gaspode. And Dibbler failing hilariously as a Holywood mogul.

Or, what looks interesting now? I was really lucky that the library had a good collection of Discworld books. When I ran out of those I had to fall back on ILL. I spent a large amount of time in college scheduling books to read next.

I also have a special place in my heart for Monstrous Regiment which became a million times better on a re-read. I don't know why. Some Pratchett books are like that.
