The English plane crashing was too much for me - it was a tragedy that pretty much overshadowed any victory McClane later pulled off. It made the stakes just too high, and sucked any fun out the film. The first movie only had a few 'civilian casualties', and even then they showed what an idiot McClane's brother-in-law…

They did that awful song that ripped off 'Miserlou', aka that surf guitar song from Pulp Fiction. It annoyed me because it was YEARS after Pulp Fiction had made it ubiquitous.
