Yes, true. So many amazing performances in the lead actor category. I would have been pleased if they just cut everyone except Fassbender and Leto out of the supporting category and added Redford, Hanks, and Phoenix as noms.

Hope I'm not jumping into this convo late but wasn't she ruled ineligible?

I thought it was Ronan who started the whole thing and Dylan was the one who name-called Cate and Alec for practically being accessories to rape. I think Cate and Alec handled it well, it's none of their business. Best to stay out of family matters. I don't see Mia as a bad person at all.

I'll go for Amy Adams

Argo is historic, wouldn't you say?

I love picture/director spits, although those are hard to root for, but let's hope for one this year! also worth noting, Alfonso Cuaron will win editing even if he doesn't win best director, so he'll get an Oscar

I read a summary of that book secondhand

I totally agree. Having kids puts you out of commission for 9 months as well.

I did some journalistic research and interviewed a CIA veteran at the Spy Museum for Mental Floss magazine over whether The Americans is realistic. I'd love to share it with you guys: http://www.mentalfloss.com/…

Jessica St Clair has had two doomed shows now, for shame. I first saw her talents on Best Week Ever and now that that show's been given second or third life, I think she should go back to that.

Oh I don't know if he's a "charming cad". I think both his Bent and About a Boy characters are sleazebags. Hugh Grant's version of Will in about a boy had women on his mind, but David Walton plays him like an obsessive seducer. Also, I've only seen him in Bent and About a Boy but they're incredibly similar characters

I think Pam was meant to be flanderized. This is a show where we want people to get crazy. I wish Cyril was flanderized more

It's difficult when you don't know someone everyone expects you to know. I was just trying to be out and proud about it rather than be closeted

i'm confused, Bender from Futurama?

Yes, but it took you 50 minutes to come around to the fact that Trolling For Downvotes was joking.

I've never seen and have barely heard of Smokey and the Bandit. Is that a TV show or film? ehh, what the hell I'll look it up on imdb…oh, wow an Oscar nomination for best editing and a Globe nom for Sally Field. You know, I understand Burt Reynolds was a star once upon a time, but to someone born in the 80's, it's

I kind of hate those baltic countries because I figure I have to hate someone and I have friends from most European nations or have some sort of pictaresque image of what they're like. I know nothing of the Baltic nations so I'm like screw it.

Wanted to mention a couple other articles I published on the Olympics. They're both sort of plugs but not to my own blog, just stuff I wrote and I don't get paid more if more people click on it. I've just enjoyed discussing the Olympics with all of you these past couple weeks and thought I'd share some further reading:

I think Erik has a point. My mom is now a hockey mom. She raves about hockey and only watched it because she has a casual interest in the Olympics and seeing the Americans win. I wouldn't be surprised if she catches an NHL team or two.
