I'm only upset because I think this show is every bit as good as the Simpsons and if the Simpsons has some weird immunity idol on cancellation, why does Futurama have to put up with cancellation all the time?

@avclub-6c6094f256f51e83fe02bce6091163e7:disqus Is it possible people people are just harping on the slide whistle? I've never seen so much anger directed towards one sound effect in a movie

I never heard of Idiocracy before but it confirms me thesis that 2006 has more underrated and undiscovered films than any other year. I don't think the Pizza Hut example counts as negative product placement. It showed Pizza Hut was still alive 30 years into the future (points for longevity) and had futuristic ways of

I'd have trouble thinking of Alexander Siddig and Colm Meany hanging out off set, so I'm not sure if the chenmistry is that great

she was really naggy and shrewish. It was refreshing to watch her on Don't Trust the B

@Thrasymachus:disqus I don't know I thought Seven of Nine was a buzzkill to the show. I thought Voyager had some decent sciencey episodes like Time and Again, Demon, Blink of an Eye, Living Witness, Distant Origin, Displaced

@avclub-d7f43e1fb2d4977c86163d9b0cb07814:disqus no offense, but calling an idea of yours a "theory" is kind of pretentious, and I hold Nathan Rabin to that standard too

Not just the Rock, but Ed Begley Jr., Jason Alexander, Virginia Madsen before she was famous, Sara Silverman, Chip Esten from Who's Line is it Anyway, and Andy Dick. Oh, also Lori Petty years after her only starring role in a movie "League of their Own." Crazy-weird casting choices

zach is my favorite AV Club writer but he's not a  nice person (as deemed by whether someone responds to me on twitter) so the most self-serving solution would be for him to watch Voyager (something he wouldn't like) and churn out brilliant reviews (which I'd like)

@avclub-92a972196ae14b06997dc73a44c6cddd:disqus The internet wouldn't be complete if someone didn't read scruting as scroteing

Enterprise was just boring. Unless you're a die-hard trek fan who needs to watch everything, I didn't really see a reason to watch

@avclub-bca3531762af8a993c4f60c48fd5e33b:disqus I agree that the show's badness manifested itself well before Season 6 (when I just stopped watching period. I'd say season 4 despite having some strong individual eps. was the point of no return and by season 5, it was lost

I think Voyager's awfulness would be fun to riff off. There's a difference over whether something is bad in a way that would lead to laughs and insightful discussion or just plain annoyingly bad like a Michael Bay or Adam Sandler film. I think Voyager falls into the former

yeah, it's hard to imagine a situation where someone will die if you don't have sex with them. couldn't she just masturbate it out or go beat up someone? in the end it worked out through fighting anyways?

"I myself suggested that perhaps the problem was thinking Star Trek ever in its entire history needed to do a "sexy comedy" episode in the first place"
Good point!

because he feels that he has to marry a girl once he's banged her, I thought that was already well explained.

I really don't mind the Dax-Worf breaking each other's ribs. It works great as a noodle incident (look it up on tvtropes.org) and I fthink it succeeds in adding some of the kind of humor that you just can't do anywhere outside of sci-fi. I'd imagine Dax-Worf sex life could fit right into Hitchhoker's Guide to the

you're point would be valid if they broke up at episode's end, but since they went ahead with their relationship, I think that Zach's on point, it's a complete failure of an episode

Neelix, on the whole, reminds me of Risa's PG-ified brand of exoticness/adventure and his character completely failed for me

Why Bonnie Hunt of all people?
