I almost never buy the standard premise of "great career, bad personal life" because it usually translates to doesn't have a boyfriend and in real life, that part of your life usually works out better by not overthinking it and developing the rest of your social life (having friends, going out) and it looks like Mindy

That just goes to show how Mad TV lags so far behind SNL. I think with the exception of maybe the first season, Mad TV had far inferior writing than SNL but some of the actors on the show were pretty decent (i.e. Key, Peele, Stephanie Weir, Barinholtz) and it's only around now, 4-8 years after their runs on the show

I don't know, I think relying too much on tvtropes to guide you is a weakness. All the writers have to do  iis consciously decide not pair them up
