I don't think it even works well as a plot device. It was like the season 1 finale where the family picture was being taken. It was just obvious that everyone would explode. There was just no other fulfilling avenue. The best I could say is that it didn't end in a complete explosion

I think what Kyle's saying is that the AV Club perfers walk-ins and office calls. If you can get past the call screener and and become the first to be on the line with Kyle Ryan or make it into the AV Club Office and physically touch him, then you win the job.
