I must admit I felt a little uneasy when she gazed down to colour-correct the laces of my shoe ... tangled up in teal&gray.

Haven’t watched this, but Bleeding Edge is the shit right there.
“Maybe there’s some element of a self-portrait in there.”
I have the DVD for exactly the same reason... but I didn’t realize this was meant to be the Allen character impression (with hindsight: well, yeah, obviously)
I think that ‘Stranger than fiction’ is hardly a masterpiece, but I still like it very well, some of the dialogue, especially with Hoffman is quite offbeat funny. I get the ‘twee’-accusation but would uphold that it just about steers clear of that, more dedication to the absurd sure wouldn’t have hurt, though.
That’s one of my favourites off Unchained*. Cash’s rendition is heart-rending.
Will check out, don’t know that one.
A friend had bought Cash’s The Man comes around the day before a road trip. We unpacked it in the car in a worship-like act, put it in the stereo, hit play and the road.
Of course, there’s Cash’s Hurt, as well as One, both equal to or surpassing the original recordings. But those feats, though genius, are easy in comparison to making a song by an artist and corresponding work I am passionately bored by, Sting, into the harrowing tale that is ‘I hung my head’.
Far Beyond Driven has outstanding stuff and is an overall good album, that wouldn’t suffer from being shorter. The Sabbath cover is really, really good. Better than the original, I think.
Just listened to new Wolf Parade, good return to well-trodden sound, I’d say, but I cannot fathom why you do not mention Handsome Furs when writing about the accolades of Dan Boeckner. (Nothing against Divine Fits, but hey?!)
New John Maus is an equally unsurprising but welcome return to his old ways. That’s one…
I, finally, watched ‘The discreet charm of the bourgeoisie’ which was wonderfully capital-A Absurd in a Beckett-esque ‘Waiting for a chance to dine’ (in vain, of course) way. Apart from the vintage Buñuel fantastic fantastic (and real) settings I was struck by a couple parallel ideas to/allusions of....
[pours self a Utah Libre* in celebration.]
Film directors currently working: Jarmusch and Almodovar, easy choices as they have decades of consistently great stuff under their belts, something new always merits checking out.
1) RIP
Just listened to the FANTASTIC album Event Horizon by the Necessaries, of whom I had previously never heard. Also, I only had the most fragmentary of ideas who Arthur Russell was. Seems to have been a pretty talented dude. 1981 album Big Sky is already playing, off to an ok start, first impression Event Horizon is…
Candy Apple Grey was my first exposure to Hüsker Dü and I got to know that one a lot later than the classic early DC/Detroit HC I had been listening to for close to a decade by then.
New Metz right now, quality release as is to be expected, maybe just a tad less harsh, I reckon?
It’s ages that I saw that one, and only want to contribute that the German title is a nice one and hardly needs translating: “Rattennest”.
Following Xanderpuss’ example I can also recommend the Museum Brandhorst in Munich that has a lot of Twombly on display (but not as much as Houston).
