This makes me suddenly feel very very old. It's really been 20 years since I bought the last PiL album?

I read it all. What's a baws? Bastard?

I must respectfully disagree with the comparison to my beloved Eliza Bennet. Two totally different periods of time, obviously, but also very different women. Eliza would never be nasty to a servant or one of her own silly sisters. She would never intentionally hurt anyone, even in return for a hurt. As outspoken and

I never would have thought of Mary as rebellious. The whole Pamuk thing is, let's face it, the story of a young woman who was seduced. She didn't pursue him, though she of course made it clear she found him attractive - he initiated the encounter and she sighed and said yes please.

It's a typo - it should say buried, not married.

I never find any of the episodes ridiculous. I simply choose to accept (naively, I'm sure) that this is a real family and that this is what this family is going through. 1880 - 1912 was when the stories were based.

Read some Sherlock Holmes stories. Lestrade always cautioned suspects before he let them spill their guts to Holmes. We're talking 1890's here, so yes. They were always careful to caution people they were arresting.

I thought that too. I kept thinking "Why the hell is no one else sick? O'Brien is there 24-7 and not even a sniffle! 800 people around Cora all the time and NO ONE ELSE gets it?"

I agree with that. I haaaaaated Thomas and O'Brien in season one. At the same time, how dumb are you that you meet some dude in a pub, hand over all your cash, and never look at the goods? I did feel bad for him though.

If a newbie could jump in here for a second regarding Mary and Edith? I always thought during season one that Edith was just kind of miffed about her sister always getting preference by virtue of being the oldest. However, and I don't know if anyone else noticed this, it all has to do with Patrick. During the very
