I found it hard to watch because I had seen so much homage/derivative stuff/parodies—I couldn't really separate it from that context.

The books aren't badly written per se, but I think you have to be interested in/compelled by the world building and not too invested in narrative to not get bogged down, at least once it gets to books 3/4. That was a contorted way of saying I did get bogged down.

I just think it's funny that Derek Zoolander is the most open, warm-hearted, accessible character Ben Stiller has ever played. (Also, Hansel is the best character whatshisname every played.)
