I think a lot of the problems people had with it is that they're mad at the movie for not being whatever it is they expected it to be. To be fair, the movie does change gears partway through and I guess some people weren't willing to go along with it.

That was part of what was so fun about it. The fluidity of the editing style really added to my enjoyment of it.

It's a top 3 contender for my favorite show of all time. It was my introduction to David Simon's work. I'm watching The Wire for the first time now, and while it's fantastic, it almost seems unpolished in comparison.

His scripts for the show have been consistently excellent.
