…The Venture Brothers?
The '90s: the era when hobo orphan mystery demand finally outstripped hobo orphan mystery supply.
Yeah — that's the thing. I really like Neko Case. I'm just trying to figure out what the later albums offer that's different. Which seems like a weird way of putting it, because there are plenty of bands who do the same thing repeatedly, and it's great. But… I don't know. As I said, I was introduced to her music at…
Thanks! I got it from the Encyclopedia of Classic Takedowns!
You say "still" like that wasn't the point in the first place…
I obviously disagree in general, but here is a less impeachable point than some others I could make: "It's Only Divine Right," "Miss Teen Wordpower," "All the Things That go To Make Heaven And Earth." None of these things is not like the other.
I'll say this much. "The Town Halo" is as good as just about any New Pornographers song that doesn't involve occupants. (And probably my favorite cello-based pop song.) I mean, the whole album is great, but that one in particular.
Someone once told me the New Pornographers are a flat circle. Every song they've ever played or will play, they're gonna play over and over and over again.
It can be both! (And really nothing else. Though, for example, "Falling Through Your Clothes" sticks out as a non-Bejar track that really works less than most of Bejar's.)
It might be one of my less favorite New Pornographers albums (i.e. still great)… though I think it edges out "Together" on the strength of consistency. (Notably, it's probably Dan Bejar's finest hour… though that translates to "he's got one good song, the second doesn't derail anything, and the third is at the end of…
Electric Version is great. They're all great. "Chump Change" is by far the worst thing they ever recorded, though, and that has to count for something.
Jimmi Simpson's strange cyberterrorist, lurking in the background… drinking milk?
I don't know — a cop show seems like the perfect opportunity for the long-awaited Ed Burns/Ed Burns team-up.
I was thinking of Judd Apatow, and wondering when he got into acting.
What about Kaiser Permanente? Or Von Kaiser from Punch-Out?
I listened to a Fascist Mime Posse album once. it was… pretty quiet.
Didn't you post the exact same thing on the story about DMX fighting George Zimmerman?
A lot of things happened to Marnie. Poor Marnie.
Yeah, I tend to think of it as fairly well-liked. Oh well!
