As far as I know, Greenblatt has never been involved with Community. I think that if he said that, he was talking more about trying to order a different kind of new shows, as opposed to retooling ones that had already been on the air for years. Community isn't new enough or big enough that they'd undertake a revamp of

Yeah — the main issue with that is that most movies (especially the types that are likely to feature TV actors) tend not to shoot during TV seasons anyway.

I mean, sorry. Not to be dismissive here. I feel like there is nothing actors like more than calling out ad-libbed moments, especially in a show like Community where 99% of it is scripted. But the vast majority of Community episodes as aired are virtually indistinguishable from the script.

Really? I feel like everything good about it is just an imitation of the original.

I'd guess no. Nobody — especially nobody in this cast, which (post-Chase) is composed mostly of performers who are trying to secure their reputations and financial futures — is going to say "I'm not going to work 22 more weeks, but I'll do it if I can work 13 weeks and then be unemployed from January through March."

There was never any plan to change the show, though. The reason Harmon's contract wasn't renewed had nothing to do with Community's creative direction and everything to do with episodes coming in late/over-budget due to Harmon's constant last-minute tinkering with the scripts. If they wanted to make a different show,

Hi. My name is Erik Charles Nielsen. You may know me from Community.

That's what I'm saying — those guys always did it (heck, consider the early Beatles albums, or the first Zombies album, etc.) — but the Ramones were from a different time. And I know that part of their schtick was reviving '50s and '60s garage rock etc., but why would THAT be a thing to revive, especially when they

"Picket Fences and Duck Dynasty are pretty much the same show."

Christian Slater?

Christian Slater?

Professional alien research is so important. Sure, we know they dress up in suits and ties, and they carry their briefcases to the office — but what exactly do they do there? They can't look at their work and say, "I built this with my own hands," can they? Hence the anomie that permeates modern alien culture.

How is it that Reg Presley has the most stereotypically "British '60s rocker" name ever, despite the fact that half of it is just Elvis's name?

That was always a weird thing about the Ramones — they were great at doing their own primitive garage rock, but then they insisted on doing generic versions of everyone else's primitive garage rock.

That was, what, the C plot of that episode? Almost the definition of "small doses."

As compared to the very similar but much, much colder precog suit? Sure, I'll take the green one, thanks.

There's actually almost no improvisation.

Yeah — because what's worse than "Documentary Filmmaking Redux"?

Yeah — I wouldn't be shocked if Season 5 ended up going mid-season too.
