Yeah pretty sure it was

Also wanted to say that this is a classic HBO pilot similar to some of their other acclaimed shows.  It focused much more on plot points and not the characters. Almost every HBO show takes several episodes for the characters to develop. Deadwood, The Wire and The Sopranos were all like this.  The Sopranos is probably

Just watched the first episode for the first time.  It's extremely hard to follow for the first 30 minutes because you don't know who any of the characters are and the scenes jump around quite often to all of them.  However, the last 25 minutes have a clear point and are much easier to follow.  You kind of start to

Did you even read what I wrote.  How about responding to the aspects The Wire was influenced by The Sopranos.  VanDerWerff even commented on this in one of his reviews. "So the stories have reached the point of climax, leaving the season finale to be a kind of long denouement, show us how the characters shake out,

That's why I said at least 1 million.  I actually think its almost impossible it will get cancelled.  They've just hired too much talent for this show and to say no to that talent would be pretty ridiculous.  They got Dustin Hoffman to star in a TV series.  I think this is his first TV series ever.

Completely different shows.  The Sopranos impact is still felt to this day on television.  The Wire even copied several aspects from the Sopranos.  Such as having shortened seasons to 12 or 13 episode seasons.  Also The Wire copied The Sopranos style of having most action and killing go down in the penultimate episode

VanDerWerff can you please review The Simpsons classic from here on out.  I beg you.

Pretty sure HBO will need at least 1 to 1.5 million viewers plus over the course of the entire first season of Luck for it to get renewed.  You can tell its a pretty expensive show.  Filming horses is always extremely expensive.  Treme can get a pass by HBO because it doesn't cost nearly as much money.  I'm guessing

Pretty appropriate reviews for a first season show.  Game of Thrones got a 79 rating on Metacritic for its first season.  Luck has a 74 currently.  Mad Men had a 77 average for its first season.  Breaking Bad had a 74 for its first season.  The only 2 first season shows I've seen get extremely high ratings from

With the 2nd episode being up on HBO Go tonight will you review that early as well or wait till it airs next Sunday?

After you finish The Twilight Zone you guys should cover Tales from the Crypt.  Might as well continue the anthology series reviews.

Should technically not matter when comparing TV shows if you weren't biased.  The Twilight Zone is still definitely in the top 5 for Sci Fi shows of all time despite it being an anthology show with different characters every week.

So with Fringe approaching its end.  From people that have seen both shows, what is better X Files or Fringe?  Obviously you can just throw seasons 8 and 9 out the window when talking X Files.

Cause there were a bunch of people that noticed HBO was releasing the first season of the Sopranos and said they would wait on buying them until they are all released on blu ray. Practically no one bought the first season and HBO saw that as no one caring about the show on Blu Ray.  So that's why it probably hasn't

I know this doesn't belong here but I still feel like it needs to be mentioned in every article.  VanDerWerff would probably agree with me considering he is a huge Simpsons fan.  Both the Simpsons and Seinfeld started their classic coverage around the same time in June 2010.  Seinfeld is starting its final season in 2

Only thing missing from a mention in this article is Seinfeld.  Otherwise all my favorite shows were mentioned in this article.  The Simpsons, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos and Deadwood

Who really cares, The Simpsons has been having mediocre seasons for over a decade now.  Since Season 9 it has been mediocre.  We should be giving Jerry credit for ending the show.  He turned down 5 million an episode to end the show.  That's a potential 110 million for just 1 more season.

Netflix is a sinking ship by the day.  If they want to bank their future on streaming, that's fine.  But how about you fix all the problems with it.  I can only think of maybe a dozen TV shows that are great on streaming.  Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Twilight Zone, Cheers, Angel, Battlestar Galactica, The Larry

What would have become more popular if they both ended after 9 seasons.  The Simpsons or Seinfeld?  Obviously Jerry knew when to call it quits where as The Simpsons didn't so I really respect him for that.  However, I feel like The Simpsons might be in pop culture forever because it has been airing forever.  Although

Does anyone else wonder how Seinfeld became so popular.  Obviously Season 4 was its breakthrough year and then from Season 5 to 9 it was always top 3 in the ratings.  I feel like today Seinfeld wouldn't be that popular because it's way too out there.  TV watchers today love dumbed down shows like Two and a half men
