I enjoyed it. A very solid B. It was funny, pretty, and creative, but it wasn't just frivolous play - it also had a thoughtful and clever message behind everything, which the writers were clearly trying to shine a light on when BMO self-referentially lamented that "this is unsatisfying".

Watch the episode again, except this time from the perspective that the boxes are in fact the sentient agents in this episode, and they're controlling the cats. Makes a lot of sense.

"There’s a section of this show’s fandom that would like to see the series spend less time on the relationship aspects and more time on adventuring, but this episode reveals the problem with that kind of thinking."

Excellently put.

Adventure Time should pay homage to stuff you like..? :\

"That future-peering crystal ball looks like it could be really, really useful in the future."

Yeah, I got some Adventure Timey feel goods from this, but in a strange way… it was kinda understated and meditative.

Me neither. The joke was about previous episodes.

I forgive you.

Geddit?

Wut. Almost all of Rebecca's songs were fantastic. Was definitely to the show's detriment when she left.

Actually that'd be Raggedy Princess.

Yeah I think that's pretty much the consensus… though 'no way sis' was a solid 8 out of 10.

Definitely the coolest guy in the room.

I agree the story was actually pretty run of the mill and not Adventurey enough, but they did basically state that outright at the start of the episode and made an ironic joke out of it, so hopefully things are gonna get more rootsy. It's was funny enough to make it a decent episode overall.

The podcast at the start where Finn outright stated that the show had become too romance-heavy and had to get back to its roots was an awesome bit of 4th wall breaking. Plus a welcome conclusion, though of course they then subverted it by having another episode all about romance.

@Chryso42:disqus Yeah, you're basically talking about separating the hydrogen from oxygen in order to burn it… i.e. to react it with, um, oxygen again.

@Prestidigititis That looks like an asteroid. Comets are made of water - you wouldn't expect them to form a fireball.

…Simon's Russian. ;)
