I'm probably a few years older than you.  Nothing made me happier in the 90s than knowing that Billy Corgan was not the voice of MY generation.  I never understood why the Pumpkins were popular in a world where Pavement, Pulp, PJ Harvey and the Pixies were still putting out great music.

It was better than 90% of the SciFi films Hollywood has churned out in the last 10 years.  Not saying much I guess, but compared to the Star Wars prequesls, the last Indiana Jones, Avatar, Prometheus, the Tim Burton Planet of the Apes, etc. JC comes out looking pretty good.

John Carter was not a great film, but it had more likeable characters and made more sense than Avatar.  I think in 20 years JC will hold up better.  Really, if it had been marketed correctly it probably had more franchise and fan boy potential than Cameron's vanity project. Are there any real Avatar fans in the world?

I think they want to make sure you aren't dead.  I've known two people who died in their hotel rooms. Happens more often than you think.

I agree. Avengers was a fine action movie, but pretty mediocre as a Whedon project.

Full transition, I said.  In the studio back in those days they were still a good band, and it is the studio recording that Lindsey is listening to.  Hard to imagine anyone getting hooked on the Dead by hearing Dark Star.

Exactly.

Exactly.

"American Beauty" and "Workingman's Dead" are truly both great albums - and actually have pretty tight songwriting.  The full transition from great country rock band to self-indulgent jam band happened after those two albums.

They are a great live band actually.

Honestly, what is wrong with you? The Decemberists are excellent musicians, they actually rock live, Melloy manages to write lyrics that are neither stupid cliches, nor vague "poetic" abstractions.  What modern band can even touch them?

More like Beta Wolf. John Lennon was an Alpha. Watch Rock'n'roll Circus sometime - it's almost embarassing how desperate Mick is for John's approval.  Keith on the other hand acts totally cool (or maybe just too wasted to care).

Rolling Stones, Now!  is one of their best albums. Seriously. Once upon a time the "cool" people dismissed any Stones album after Aftermath as a commercial sell out. Now even Stones fans seem completely unaware the Stones were once a great R&B band.
