Question for people who have seen the movie: Was anyone else bothered by the ethical concerns regarding actually making this film?
1) Certain participants in the re-enactments seemed genuinely traumatized by having to recreate things that, in some cases, they may have actually gone through for real. The filmmaker

I watched the Shining the night before I watched this pilot, and I even stopped the movie for a sec to stare at the bathroom and laugh a little (because Kubrick's use of design makes me laugh with how brutally intentional/unsubtle it is, okay?) - so when I watched this episode the next day, I was pretty dumbfounded. Claudette was never sassy. Yer nuts! World weary all the way.

I can't believe I finally found the Sopranos Name Thread a year late. Ey, Commendatori!

It's supposed to do that, for sure, but I think it manages to perpetuate both stereotypes and shitty hiring practices in the process. Also, the idea that darker=worse. Mel Brooks' reading on that doesn't really support the "I'm saying this because that's what our white oppressors would think" interpretation very well

I definitely had that in mind, and I agree that the Aprile name captures some of the show's theme(s) in general.

Yeah, fair enough. A mild counterpoint (it's a reach and a half): Adriana was never, ever going to run without Christopher - so as an informant, she didn't really have the power to bring Tony down. Because of her nature (and because Chris made his choice way back in the confirmation episode) she wasn't a threat in the

So, in an early write-up Todd looked at Meadow's name for symbolism and connection to themes - I'm wondering if anyone in the (apparently vast) world of Sopranos criticism as looked at other names on the show for similar relevance. Having once had a tiny bit of Italian, some of the names jump out as being meaningful -

Thought: "The show rarely cheats or keeps viewers in the dark about what's going on with key characters."
