It gets waaaay better. The show was a little too on the nose in the first season. Like @avclub-4c562a922dda29172f86955ed505472e:disqus said make sure you see "5G" first. Personally, it wasn't until Episode 7 "Red in the Face" that it really clicked for me.

I never played D&D before and I read (and enjoyed) it.
I've been reading Inherent Vice and I think Milch would punish with a similar kind of setting. Like Terriers except written by Milch and with more dope fiends.
Bands I didn't think would work live but were actually awesome: Joanna Newsom. I saw her twice. Once last year and once the year before and both times she was awesome. I had heard so-so things but I think it just took her a while to get used to playing live.
With Radiohead for me it's ticket price and the large crowds.
