For what it's worth, the "band" is largely superfluous as John Darnielle will still tour as "the Mountain Goats" when he wants to do solo shows, or if it's just him and Peter Hughes. I do not, however, think he has ever toured with just Jon Wurster, but that's probably because he's in other really good bands …
