There were some issues with this episode, especially the ridiculous one-dimensional army guy (we get it: the writers of this show hate the military), but the character stuff in it made it one of the best of the season for me - with this and last week's tour de force, they're on a roll that I hope can be sustained, and

I like Emma when she's wrestling with who she is, but Captain Swan is the worst part of the show.

Okay, at least they didn't go that way. I honestly couldn't tell. And last (half) season was so forgettable….

I think we know from Hercules the movie that people can be saved from the River of Souls, assuming it's the same thing. Being green, it probably is. So we can't write Milah off just yet….

Wait, is Emma still officially a Dark One? You're kidding, right? Clearly the writers have completely forgotten that as well.
(No wonder there are so many memory losses on this show - it's the writers writing what they know (or don't know)….)

Preventing a second child is extremely easy, even without infertility potions. All you have to do is not have sex.

If that, not Emma's ga-ga plan to rescue Hook, is the focus of this storyline I will be very happy.

Yeah, but there's no point in pointing them out as the reviewer won't correct them. I've tried in the past on this site.

Dark Swan was so potentially good that it ended up being even more disappointing. Dammit, Dark Swan, actually BE dark and not just mildly off-white!

If by "season" you mean "this year's stuff," then I definitely agree. And it works, by and large, because it's about the characters we know, rather than adding in new ones like Merlin or Arthur.
Also, no one has lost their memory. Yet….

Yeah, I would have been stunned (and impressed) if they'd have Belle be Rumple's daughter. Now that would be interesting to watch the fallout from. Having her bear his child is a lot more boring. Mind you, that fits with Belle's character, which seldom manages to be anything more than a plot device.
Milah remains a

Except in my family's case at least it would be "I'd rather starve than put any part of you in my mouth"….

No love for the pre-opening bit with Mitch on the phone? I thought that was probably the best joke of the show….

Excellent. Please get a job as a writer for this show and make it happen.

Or better yet, Lawless playing Athena, vying with Ares for Xena. There wasn't enough Athena in the original, and having her oppose Xena was not a good idea (as it meant she was destined to lose).

Some sort of "start off in the Prime universe, weird gods thing happen, boom it's the Jar Jar universe"? To be honest, I'm not sure if that's necessary (it certainly wasn't for that Trek thing). However, you could cast Lawless and O'Conner in different (but similar?) roles. Perhaps as gods, perhaps as Xena's mentors.

This is a reboot, not a continuation, right? Rebooting with an older Xena would work, but not with an older Gabrielle. This is not about how fuckable the actresses are,* but about the characters.

Can you flag comments for sheer stupidity? I just tried. Let's see what happens….

Lawless might be acceptable: she's aged well, and she often appeared too young in the original to do all the things she did in those flashbacks. But not O'Conner: Gabrielle was the young innocent child, and being played by a forty-something just would not work.

Whoever controls the language controls the argument.
