what does it predate

Mostly, I went to Edgewater, NJ with my best friend for the Japanese after-Christmas rush

Best wishes to you on the food front. You are in control.

Yup, AJ is on point here

Happy Birthday! Best wishes in all that you do, to hell with those that treat you poorly.

I'M GOING TO TALK VAGUELY ABOUT STAR WARS, NO SPOILERS. JUST WANTED TO BE REALLY UPFRONT ABOUT IT. HEY LOOK MY CAPS LOCK WORKS

Mostly I tried to avoid Star Wars info/spoilers (but here I am on the Internet, go figure). Going next weekend. Hope it's awesome! Here's what I've been up to:

Isn't your VHS copy worn out by now?

I'm a big Cronenberg fan, and I think Crash is among his finest. It's such a psychologically fascinating movie. Check out Ebert's take on it. You're right about Koteas, and he's one of my favorite actors. Really wish he would get more shine, he's reliably excellent. Anyway, watching these people indulge this insanely

Jedi is dope and I don't understand why people bag on it so much, and this is coming from someone who likes his SW stuff dark as hell and therefore thinks Empire is the best and will never be surpassed (really going out on a limb with that last part, I know).

I really liked Sicario on almost every level. When I saw it described here as "hellishly intense" by the review, I knew I needed to see it. Such a gripping, beautifully made movie.

Children of Men indeed rocks, and you are going to see the three movies I am really excited to see too!

I also laughed a lot at Deadwood. For all the brooding and violence, it's often a pretty funny show.

That was easily the best one, and he absolutely aced it, didn't miss a beat. "But (town name) yeah, that's a total loss."

I don't know if you're aware of Shane Black, but he gained fame as a screenwriter and KKBB was his first directorial effort. Two of his big writing credits were "Lethal Weapon" and "The Long Kiss Goodnight".

Dude, it lends itself to discussion big-time. I could talk about it all day! When you see it, we shall discuss.

Deadwood and Justified are both instant classics in my book.

I only know the Cohen song from the "Live in London" set but it's cool.

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang is great and very quotable; just rewatched it last weekend as a sort of prelude to actual Christmas movies. "I think you wouldn't know how to feed yourself if you didn't flap your gums so much. Yes, I think you're stupid."

Rilo Kiley is one of my all-time favorite bands, and one whose work will always have really heavy time-in-my-life implications for me. Discovering them, consuming their albums, the last record coming out, seeing them at Coachella on what turned out to be the last tour, having a big crush on Jenny Lewis and falling in
