That's been in my queue for months. Looks awesome, but it's long and bleak, so it never seems like the right time to watch it. Soon, though!

Tromeo and Juliet is the best adaptation. Everyone knows that.
But she felt pretty!
Scene 1
A: This haggis is the greatest thing I’ve ever tasted!
B: Haggis is disgusting. Why do you like disgusting food?
A: I don’t like disgusting food. I think haggis is delicious.
B: But most people find haggis disgusting, so in a manner of speaking, wouldn’t you say that you like disgusting food?
A: Well, I guess. …
Compare what you just said: "It's possible to know that one's idea is very far from the mainstream - e.g, extreme - but still find it justified and necessary…"
A list on this list on that other list:
1) Agree that iZombie should have made the cut. Doctor Who as well.
2) Disagree that The Walking Dead and w/Bob and David should have made the cut. B&D was enjoyable but nothing special…and TWD was fucking infuriating, as usual.
3) I tried to get into Outlander, really I did. I…
So, I listened to about 10% of the best albums…read 0% of the best books…and watched about 80% of the best TV. My taste in TV (and nothing else, apparently) seems to be in sync with the AV Club.
Is it possible for one to see one's own beliefs as extreme but still justified? Of course: that's not even a question. Every extremist with a minimal degree of self-awareness will know that his views are non-mainstream.
If we objected to ideas for their impracticality, yes, we would call those ideas impractical. That's like saying: if all bananas are yellow, then all bananas are yellow. A perfect tautology. Anyway, we don't object to extremist ideas just because they're impractical. Many monstrous ideas are practical, in the sense…
Semantically speaking, you might have a point, but I don't see what difference it makes. If I object to Extremist Bob's ideas, it's not because I find his distance from the mainstream problematic. It's because I think the ideas are wrong (unreasonable/foolish/crazy, or ethically wrong).
"Intellectual rigor" assumes that one values rationality. If you
believe that idea A is extremist, that's just another way of saying that you thought about it, and judged it to be absurd. If you believe that A is sensible, then you wouldn't consider it extremist. So, I'd say that certain unpopular ideas are…
I'm cutting my heating bills by wearing sweaters…I'm a life hacker!
You mean that show about Amish mobsters that I passed on three years ago? it's still on, and it's actually good? Interesting.
If you answered "no" to Question 1: are you in fact a secret Muslim?
Pandora brought the box of ills and opened it. It was the gift
of the gods to men, outwardly a beautiful and seductive gift, and called the Casket of Happiness. Out of it flew all the evils, living winged creatures, thence they now circulate and do men injury day and night. One single evil had not yet escaped from…

Did Billy eat all the cookies again? God damn you, Billy.
There are two separate questions here: (1) does Obama fine-tune his words and opinions to reflect a certain image? (of course he does); and (2) is it out of line to suggest that he does? (of course it isn't). My guess is that he does this with little performances, like the People Magazine interview, as well as big…
I love John Fahey…I'll check that out. If you play guitar, there's a DVD of Fahey teaching his Christmas songs. Here's a snippet:
