There's a giant cat in the Hartnell episode, Planet of Giants…well, the cat is normal-sized, but the Doctor and co. have been miniaturized, as in this episode.

Chomsky says (correctly) that half of "theory" is nonsense, and the other half is truisms that you could explain to a 10-year-old in monosyllables. The quote above ("The spectacle is nothing more than an image of happy unification…") means little more than "we like to pretend that everything's great, when really,

Or Nietzsche Family Circus.

Depends on which Germans you're talking about. I think Hegel and Heidegger are much to blame for turning philosophy into a circle jerk of obfuscation. But the French are masters at it…and American intellectuals (like myself, when I was in grad school) lap it up.

I loved Robyn Hitchcock in the 80s/90s, and then sort of forgot about him. I just recently started listening to his more current stuff, after hearing the Marc Maron interview. It's great…I'm re-hooked. (The exact same thing happened last year, with Billy Bragg.)

No one has ever used the phrase "pop culture creator" in actual speech. We should be forgiven for interpreting that weird expression loosely.

I had a perfect attendance record with Marvel stuff, until last year. I couldn't get into Agents of SHIELD, and I turned off Spider-Man 2 after ten minutes. I seem to be experiencing a backlash against this stuff…maybe I need to take a break for a year or two.

I have to immediately pick up everything new by the Melvins (new one this week!), Neil Young, and Sonic Youth (or its splinter/successor groups). Just the main albums…I don't need every limited edition 7" packed in a special autographed collectible lunchbox (the Melvins never stop releasing stuff like that). I used

"You can definetly click this" is very reassuring.

Imogen Poots, but Amanda Peet.

If I recall, they actually violate the Prime Directive to save him. By Starfleet law, they clearly should have let him die. (It's more fun to talk about Star Trek than child molesters.)

A bit off-topic, but I read an article awhile ago* about a guy who (in a moment of stupidity) mooned his sister. She called the cops, he was convicted of a sex crime (exposed ass = sex crime, apparently)…and now his life is basically over with. (And of course, our tax dollars will be used to monitor/punish this guy

Aren't Bart and Lisa in their late 20s by now? Not sure what I think about this case. Would the world be a nicer place if this "deviant art" didn't exist? Yes. Is that true of lots of stuff that's perfectly legal? Yes. Am I comfortable defending guys who create and/or enjoy this stuff? No. (Do I overuse

I actually agree: Grisham's case is badly stated, and probably not typical. But our abhorrence of these crimes is such that we're not likely to dig deep to see who's been wrongly accused.

"Missy loves showing off her blue panties"…does she really love it, or is it all LIES?

Hmm. Never heard that. It kinda broke my heart when I read those "Pete Townshend: Definitely a Pedophile" stories, which you say are false. I hope you're right.

Odd, how they recognize a category of activities that are permissible, but exploitative. (Can't wait until I turn 18, so I can be exploited too!)

(Why am I getting involved in this?) Well, the idea behind O'Neal's piece (and the comments from the peanut gallery) is that Grisham deserves our contempt for even suggesting that there's a grey area. But as you say, Bizarro, of course there's a grey area. That's why we have a legal system, to judge varying degrees

Because Asians are so strange? Racist.

The ghost of Vincent Price, I think. Eccleston is a good idea, but he can't be Strange, since he was already the bad guy in Thor 2…
