I like Ryan McGee a lot. I think he's one of the best critics around but I'm afraid I disagree completely with this article and I'm really surprised to see it here. I'm guessing it has a lot more to do with his distaste for HOC than any real love of Scandal.

Rhimes is proof why female showrunners should be allowed to "run with the big boys" as you so condescendingly put it. Whether you like her or not she delivers ratings. Greys has run nearly a decade and Scandal does pretty well by 2013 standards.

Is HOC more cynical than Scandal? I haven't watched all of HOC yet but I'd be willing to bet there are no rigged elections and POTUS never murders anyone.

I watch Scandal and its very rare those cliff hangers actually work. Worse still they use that terrible device of having a cliff hanger
and following up with a flashback episode so you don't get a resolution
for 2 weeks. And the flashback episodes about Olivia and Fitz are terrible.

Definitely the most underrated. I was disappointed it didn't make a lot more top 10s in the end of year lists. Its so much better than other more lauded shows. Season 4 was one of the best seasons of TV I've ever watched.

This was probably the most overt meta episode Raising Hope has done but its certainly not the first time they've used it. Its been pretty common place for them for at least 2 seasons now.
