I enjoyed it, but I don't know if it's because the episode was actually pretty decent or if it's the result of previous episodes lowering my expectations to such a great degree.

Very true.  NBC has to know that nothing they put in the 8:00 Thursday slot is going to be a ratings beast.

Considering that earlier this week Guys with Kids and Go On each got a 1.1, The New Normal got a 1.0, and that 1600 Penn got a mere .9, Community might actually secure a 5th season if it can bring in 1.2's on a regular basis.

Had the writers tweaked the script some, this ep would have a great way to do another "fake flashback" episode, showing the study group at their most selfish over the past couple years at Greendale.  I really dug the scenes of Jeff turning people away from the study room because they were looking for the pen or

I would have loved to see an anti-study group of Greendale students in place of the random Germans taking over the study room, possibly lead by evil Annie/the popular kids from the season 1 Jack Black ep, sort of like our study group's evil campus counterpart (or are they really the good ones?  This story had some

The fish can be psychic!

This was the first episode of the season with a premise that had some real potential, it sort of reminded me of Competitive Ecology (which I am actually quite fond of), and I love the idea that the study group can be so delusional about what jerk-asses they can be sometimes (to the chagrin of the rest of Greendale),

It's like the television equivalent of an autopsy!  At least we can't say we didn't learn something.

What season 4 is missing isn't confidence, it's Harmon's own sense of weird, unpredictable ambition.  The show used to take real chances in structure, form, and genre.  Even his episodes that weren't the best still had their own moments of joyful insanity, even Celebrity Pharmacology (Hello Dildopolis!)

You should catch up with S8, some fans think the show has strayed a little bit but I think its pretty fantastic.

Thank you!  So glad I'm not the only one that has been thinking this, even though I do like the show.  But the reviewers have been tossing A/A- grades at season 5 left and right.

There's no accounting for bad taste

It really feels like zombie Community at this point, the magical weirdness that Harmon brought to the show is gone.

I found it hilarious.

Just saw the ratings for last night, the episode pulled a 1.1, huge drop off from the premier (1.9) and a series low.  Granted it was Valentines day, but we might not get that 5th season after all if the ratings don't buck up, not that I'm feeling all that invested in the show at this point anyway.

The great thing about season 2 was how much of Dan Harmon's own money went into the series, he put up a lot of extra cash to make an episode like Epidemiology look really great.  Last nights episode did look pretty cheap in comparison.

Anyone else love that brief scene with Mallory and Archer just hanging in her office drinking while she bitches about how boring her new husband his?  As deranged as that mother-son relationship is, I like that they can have that sort of sincere moment of honesty without being saccharine.  And that "no" montage just

The best of season 3 is still much, much better than the worst of season 2 and probably comparable to the best of season 2, if not a little more hit and miss.

How does it feel to be dead inside?

Those angry claw-hands Mallory made at Ron made me laugh so hard, sort of like that tragic face Lana made at the end of the last episode.  I hope they keep going with those sort of silent, emotional expression jokes.
