Total Dads joke.
Total Dads joke.
"Sometimes I forget to factor in the Asian." Get it? Because Lily wants to do well in school?
Or bathos.
Ah, that must be it. I skimmed the past two seasons after writing this and came up empty.
As soon as The Goldbergs gets canceled?
I like him, too. I can see people being really turned off, but he's so loud his every line sounds a bit like a non sequitur.
Yeah, the thing about Cougar Town is it was about a cougar for like half a season and she was barely on the prowl. Trophy Wife is already less tawdry just by dint of the marriage component, so even if Akerman isn't really a trophy wife (and she may be…what do we really know about this Pete fella?), the title isn't…
I'm already mad at you for getting my hopes up about Jason Bateman.
@avclub-e0a1578b57e32929a77892fadf0d0b40:disqus Agreed. TV's Hollywood blockbuster is reality TV & CBS crime procedurals. You don't see many people arguing that NCIS is better than The Avengers.
The usual problems apply, e.g. cherry-picking to compare the best of TV (Mad Men, The Wire) against the worst of film (Hollywood blockbusters). As with the subject of how many awful shows are on television, when it comes to the worst parts of each medium, who cares? (And if you were to include them, I might remind you…
Unfortunately it was kind of a miracle we covered every episode last year. But we'll be back for the finale at least!
@avclub-eac75edc18b8546c46893fe4b75ab995:disqus Oh, definitely. I wouldn't dispute that the late '70s/early '80s was a fallow period. It's just interesting to see the oasis.
Also SCTV, The Muppet Show, Police Squad!, Taxi, Soap, WKRP, Yes, Minister, Delvecchio, Paris, and Dallas for the soaps.
In season one's "The Preacher," Arness and Connors beat the crap out of each other!
Created by Frank Pierson! Other writers are Star Trek's Gene L. Coon, Have Gun's Ken Kolb, and Barney Miller's Theodore J. Flicker. Directors include John Badham and Gerd Oswald. This looks great. Thanks for the tip!
@avclub-b3fe4f5a8793b5499e143cdf1253caff:disqus Don't forget SNL, variety, and game shows! That could be a really cool feature, actually.
You know, I used to have a bias against westerns, too, and I have no idea where it could have come from. I'm pretty sure the only westerns I saw before The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, which completely exploded that mental dam, would have been like Looney Tunes shorts and stuff. Maybe it's just because I associated…
@avclub-99ba5c4097c6b8fef5ed774a1a6714b8:disqus The color episodes (seasons 11-13 last I checked) are airing on two other channels right now, too. I believe MeTV (my new favorite) and maybe TVLand?
Ooh, which westerns have you been watching?
Hell, 1975: Not so much, anymore. Gunsmoke spanned the rise and fall itself.
