Yeah, I'm excited about season two, but I wish the cast had more meatheads.

Season one is pretty funny, but "razor-sharp" isn't the word I would have used. I was actually hoping for more in the way of specific satire instead of the generalized absurdity of extreme reality personalities competing to find true love on camera in three months.
I want to agree. Not about the Lily thing. May as well tell us they're constantly ripping each other clothes off. The fact is Modern Family has never seriously threatened to show two men romantically entangled.
"Fearing freezer burn, he’s just been salting the meat this whole time!" That's not a bad description of what I've been doing with Glee.
I know it's old news, but seeing Claire pull Phil into bed and then seeing Gloria pull Jay into bed, both couples talking about how they want to have sex, makes it extra clear how you would never see that with Mitchell and Cameron.
Yeah, instead of the usual Serling "…in the Twilight Zone" intro, he talks about how it won an award at Cannes and they love it so they're showing it under the TZ banner.
So true. I think what sets "Twenty-Two" apart from "Long Distance Call" is that the way it's shot never convinces (or tries to). It's so artificial-looking, like she's wandering an abandoned set and doesn't even realize that it's not a real hospital. Extra creepy on top of the usual.
Yes, "Twenty-Two" is one of my favorites, too. The only Twilight Zone shot on tape where the smeary, surreal video quality enhances the nightmare.
I don't have one of those "how did you get into film" stories, but when I was a kid, we had that double-VHS box of, like, six episodes ("The Howling Man," "Masks," "The Eye of the Beholder," etc). The one that really floored me, though, was "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge," which is pretty much all camerawork and…
Since next week is Second Opinions week—and I believe Erik will be reviewing the episode—I watched the next two after reviewing "The Ghost Is Seen," and then I had to see the finale. Suffice it to say, I'm very impressed.
That's a dirty lie, Adams! I'm from Houston fercryinoutloud. Pats need to get got.

I lobbied for it (and voted for it on my top 20)! Such a dense, bizarre, fun special with a purpose that rises from simple parody to bonkers celebration. You're Whole is funny, but it's not nearly as rich or immaculate as The Greatest Event In Television History.

Me, too! It's partly general prequel/reboot fatigue and it's partly that Star Trek in particular hasn't exactly thrilled me with its prequels. Let's look to the future. How might a post-DS9/Voyager Star Trek (emphasis on Star Trek, as in Roddenberry's vision) logically play out and reflect the 21st century? That's…

Exactly. The Thick Of It is a good example of The Way We Live that is also satire. It doesn't have to stretch much to illustrate (its view of) the tragic absurdities of a western politics that doesn't much care which meaningless factotums (factota?) are filling the slots.
