The one thing that keeps me from buying it wholesale is that Lakshmi really sold her absolute conviction about "one with the Divine".  She had all the marks of a genuine believer, while Paul seems not only incapable of that kind of commitment, but also the kind of guile a con requires.

Depending on how you define "mecca of culture and art." If you mean with high-end galleries, museums, symphony and ballet, well no, that's not any pure college town, including Austin. But if you want a diverse and excellent music scene and some hip clubbing, there's Ann Arbor, 45 minutes down the road, Duke.
