That whole coming up an Ace or a Joker really was a cool premise. I read the first eight books or so when they first came out. I think the multiple writers/shared world thing made it too inconsistent to be really good, though.

If the guy who plays Mirman's Russian hitman brother on "Delocated" is one of the animal rapists, I would totally DVR that.

I realized that I got the Mel Gibson quote wrong after I posted it. Guess I blew it.

I will die in the name of honor!
And then you will blow me.

Kandace, you should at least check out Towelie and Robin. The arc where they get high is really good. Rucka and Williams III Towelwoman rocks, too.

Ottoman, I think he was high in issue #186.

I've got high hopes (no pun intended) (OK, pun intended) for Grant Morrison's Towelie, Inc. It'll be interesting to see how the worst characters of every country work together to get high.

Every time Jerry Minor introduces himself as "Mighty Joe John, the Black Blond" on Delocated, I completely crack up.

udjibbom, "zur-en-arrh" was a planet Batman went to back in the '50s that had its own Batman. He had a multicolored costume like the one in Morrison's run. They even used a bat-radia.

Sudeikis must do tons of cardio.

I'll second that. Brubaker and Epting's collaborations have a real spark to 'em.

Jimmy O: From a writing standpoint, I just loved A-SS's constant barrage of cool ideas. Zibarro! Ancient heroes! Supermen of different eras! Morrison understands that if you have a character as powerful as Superman, you have to go for broke. I think he pulled it off without making it childish (like the silver-age

I've been following this pretty closely 'cuz I read the series back when it came out, and I'd love it to continue someday. Marvel has the rights from the creator of the original Marvelman from back in the '50s. They and Gaiman have been pretty quiet about whether they're going to be reprinting the '80s Moore (and

Jimmy Olsen, Laura Allred's name popped into my head when I read the original post. She really adapts to each project that she's on, too. I like Dave Stewart, as well.

If AV Club ever does a Grant Morrison Primer or Gateways to Geekery, the comments section is going to be a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend his and Frank Quitely's All-Star Superman. Maybe the best Superman story ever.

At first glance, I thought you wrote that Hayden Christensen from Star Wars was going to be writing it!

Williams just gets better and better all the time. I never thought he'd surpass Promethea, but he tops himself with each and every project. Those bat-shaped spreads in Elegy are a tour-de-force.

You're right there, Caged Horse. Ugly, ugly stuff. At least the story was revolutionary enough at the time to make up for it.

Batwoman is going to be an ongoing soon, but Greg Rucka left. JH Williams III is going to be writing as well as drawing it. For me, his art was the real star of "Elegy," so hopefully the new series will be as great. I'm not sure when it's coming out.

Martha Washington
Dave Gibbons has detractors? Huh?
