Well, being 1/4 Italian, I know of "Aglio e Olio", it's plain spaghetti (it's called spaghetti in its plain state) dressed with some olive oil (instead of butter) and some garlic. I don't know what Megan's mother may have made for her, though.

I think they did this intentionally, because what could be easier? Dinner is ruined! It contrasts with the beef bourguignon she scalded him with. (I kid.) That might have been worth a courtesy call.
