On the sixth day of Dawesmas my true Hyden gave to me, six Pabst Blue Ribbons,  fiiiiive fixiiie wheeeels, four cardigans, three woolen scarves, two indie beards, and that sweet Laurel Canyon Sound

Holy fuck, I just read the first dozen or so comments and I really cannot stop laughing.  The fact that this is happening is unreal.

I'm surprised it took this long for 'Solaris to pop up.  Easily my favorite Soderbergh and as others have mentioned, I have no idea why it gets so much hate.  Great, great movie.

@avclub-70e3af92f42d99d5d3022a6e968393ff:disqus Oooo.  Good call with Gang Starr.  Love that album but I don't think it quiiiiiiiite makes my list.

In my opinion there are three all out front to back perfect rap albums:

The Kips Bay theater?  Man, that's my old stomping ground.  A great thing about NYC is that it has a) every movie that gets released and b) the theaters themselves are really nice.

'Hell on Earth' and 'The Infamous' are perfect gems.  Other than that, Mobb Deep has a fairly disappointing track record.  'Murda Muzik' might have had a decent song or two but I didn't care for it.  (yes, I thought 'Quiet Storm' sort of sucked).

University of Phoenix online or get the fuck out.

Favorite Mobb Deep track:

In all absolute honesty. . . that. was. fucking. awesome.

Moxie actually was the factor that both sides used to get past the horrors of the battle at The Wilderness.  That and hardtack.  And Dawes.

That was a good one.

I've always loved the bass line in 'Turnover', especially the very end.

It's probably one of my top 5 all time favorite films.  Sort of hard to describe to somebody, though.  "Well, it's about two guys who make a time machine and. . . um. . . you'll just have to watch it yourself.  Oh, and it was made for $7,000."

I want one of those shirts so fucking bad.

Go work on your Long Division.

I went to intermediate school as well and it was pretty standard where I grew up.  Any other variation of grades was usually in parochial schools.

One of the bleakest endings to a film I've ever seen.  Loved it as as a kid but it seriously messed me up.

I was at a wedding so I really didn't watch anything.  I did, however, spend a great amount of time extolling the virtures of 'Primer'.  I got into an argument with one of my friends about it at the reception (he hated the film. "two guys standing around in a storage unit is not great.")  and wound up having to

Congratulations for not really making a fucking point, outside of the fact that dark subject matter is often concealed in a radio friendly, pop format.  Just like I did in my initial post.  No one is saying this is some brilliant piece of audial subversion; just that it happens to make (to me, at least) a very catchy
