Oh, Witchfinder General is not just a cool title. It's what I would name my next child if I were to have one. My wife for some reason doesn't agree with me on that choice.
To be fairer, he was truly hilarious on Hollywood Squares. No idea how much of that stuff was written for him, but he was also quite funny and charming on the talk shows.
I don't know anything about the singer Usher— he might be a very nice person with great songs. But I would like him to go spectacularly bankrupt at some point in his career, and to lose his house. Just for the Entertainment Weekly headline.
Hm. I never thought of Deborah Kerr as being too old, but I suppose you're right.
You're also right about its being one of the best horror films ever. Not just scarier than most every other one (although -or because - it's black and white and low budget with literally zero special effects), but also much, much more…
Oh, I love Theatre of Blood. I haven't seen it in years, and why not? Diana Rigg is in it, that should have me watching it once a year at least.
The Shakespeare-derived murder methods are grisly fun. Doesn't someone have a pound of flesh removed…?
Don't panic. Kids who were in eighth grade when Twilight came out could well have been posting here THEN.
I was hoping someone had optioned an issue of Popular Mechanics. Flying cars, man!
But Scrawler, now that you've mentioned it, everyone here will picture you as looking like Linda Cardellini. Better than if you'd for some reason compared yourself to Mr. Rosso.
They've done it backwards - stakes are supposed to get higher as you go. Once Olympus has fallen, who gives a fuck about a city?
Oh. Not the real Olympus then? Sorry. For some reason I didn't see the movie.
Bet the Hudson Brothers look worse.
So, how long before Harlan Ellison sues THIS show?
I want to watch this (and might, in fact) but the whole thing is weird to me. I wasn't alive at the time, but HAVE heard a record of the actual program. It's so obviously a radio play..! Hard for me to believe that even back then people would be so gullible.
The line was perfect. For a fleeting moment, when I first saw the movie, I expected that Welles himself would make an appearance, maybe over the end credits, apologizing for his part in the hoax…
Then the real end credits came and were the best end credits ever so never mind.
"…. not just terrifying, but heartbreaking as well."
Absolutely, that's it. Anyone who hasnt seen it needs to (whether they think they like horror movies or not). I haven't actually been able to rewatch, because it's so sad, but it's a perfect movie.
There's a lot of Rush Limbaugh. I hope he has a lot of housecats or some will go to waste.
I have no actual Lou Reed memories, never saw him in concert or anything. But I listened to, over and over, Transformer when it came out. Yep, I'm that old. I still love the album (not just for Reed's work, but for Mick Ronson's as well) and in fact still have it on vinyl…
And - listen, I know this is not Reed's…
Yeah, let's see the Beatles try this…
I've never seen one second of Homeland, but this was still hilarious.
I thought Slip Sliding Away for that one troopers bit.
