Shelly Duvall is my favorite actor in The Shining.  Whether due to Kubrick, the script, or her own instincts (and yeah, I guess it could be all three) she did something I think no other actress would:  When Jack starts going more wacko, and starts imitating her whining (another good choice- a menacing, abusive husband

hell.  I was kinda looking forward to this.  (But in fact the only sequel I wanted from King was his long-ago-planned sequel to Salem's Lot.  Not sure it would have worked anyway.).  Well, I'll put it on hold at my library, not gonna spend $ on it.

mbs - absolutely, my favorite thing about News Radio is exactly that Dave isn't DRIVEN crazy, or made to act more wacky or whatever, by his being at the job.  He pretty much was always that way, and it's revealed in choice ways throughout the run.  At no point, except MAYbe in the pilot, do we get the feeling that

"Less fun" because, goddamnit, she's the Chosen One.  Pretty much denied fun by Giles and that whole destiny thing.  Which makes her quips and sass even more grounded in pain, and understandable, I think.

Some day I'm going to have to do some looking into what fandom was doing and saying during the run of Buffy.  I only recently netflicked the entire run (and man, was that fun) so came very late to it.  I wasn't really interested when it was airing, and am not even peripherally aware of what people said about it.

Not only do I not think Buffy is uninteresting, I think that Sarah Michelle Gellar worked harder than she's worked since to MAKE Buffy interesting… There were some arcs to the character that were kinda jarring, but she always seemed completely committed to making them work for the character and the show.
I haven't seen

I think I bring this up too often, but.. after the poison-cheap-wedding-invitation-envelope-death episode (you know the one I mean) the cast and showrunners got tons of angry mail, basically saying, "that's not funny, how can you be so cold?"  Julia Louis-Dreyfuss pointed out something that, really, the audience was

It was interesting to me to find out that Rowan and Martin were quite the viable comedy duo before Laugh-In (and of COURSE they'd had a track record; nothing about that show wasn't calculated)…I don't know what there is to find of their pre-Laugh-In stuff online, but I've heard some bits on the radio.  Their timing

More important, without Ted?  Title change!   I suggest "Better Off of Mars", which would scuttle the show after two episodes.

Sheltie, thanks, that was hilarious.  Never seen it before.
Ted Crisp is the only entry on this list I don't quite agree with.  It's subtle, but he does drive the action more often  than not, and is, I think, a very interesting character.

Slight correction, Midnight, but only for the one show in your list I've seen:

It might have provided a better judgement.  That is, you would, with added information, be able to more accurately see that…  well, that you'd wasted hours and possibly lowered your IQ by a few points.

The Front IS so good…  and my crack up there about Woody Allen mostly stems from the fact that, with him in the movie, it sorta feels like a Woody Allen movie at first.  Be interesting to see it with a different actor in that role is all.
What I love most about the movie is Zero Mostel's performance - he was

I've never seen that Peckinpah movie …I know, I know, I SHOULD, and I will - Warren Oates is a favorite.

I haven't seen this show in years, though I've seen every episode, but the "Gilmores don't understand college applications" still bugs me.  I'll almost forgive Lorelai, with her pixie-ish oh-don't-worry-things-will-work-out-great! attitude (almost).  And she didn't go to college, right?  The process would

Loved this.  I mean, I'm a big fan of Flowers for Algernon and this got that done faster…

Oh, I was an alcoholic till I won a dance competition.   After that I was able to afford heroin.

The like button isn't liking, so….

Awww…  I was so looking forward to another trade embargo subplot.  Man, that was riveting.

Damn.  That could be a good movie.
