Only seven writers giving their picks? That seems absurdly skimpy. I'm kind of disappointed.

I'll second i and 1: I was fully expecting to see this make the list. It's a song that seems tailor-made for it. I don't even mind the music so much. But Andy Summers' caterwauling . . . youch.

Season four is amazing, isn't it? It seems like so many AV readers hate season four and think season five is Angel's best. But even though five is a hoot, four is definitely tops with me.

I'll contribute, though probably not very well. I read a ton of Alistair MacLean growing up since my parents were into his stuff. I remember his books being short, fast, and fun, but they're also something I've always associated with my childhood. I never wanted to go back and reread any of them as an adult and

If Fred Armisen and 70s John Travolta had a love child, I suspect that would be the creepy result.

Yeah, Jake was never set up to be the audience/fanboy surrogate that Wesley was meant to be and failed so, so horribly at. Nor was he that huge a character. He got the occasional episode, but he was never as important a character as Sisko, Kira, Odo, etc. Wesley was supposed to be as important as the other main

Smokey and the Bandit II, anybody?

I'll second the DS9 love. It's my favorite of the Trek series, though it's like TNG in that it doesn't hit on all cylinders until a few seasons in. But when it does, whew. Easily the best character development in Trek, not to mention strong ongoing plotting.

Huh. And for me, season five was the beginning of the long, slow slide into mediocrity.

And this guy is still your friend?

Jim did good longing and had nice unrequited love chemistry with Pam. But as far as being actually WITH someone, yeah, he and Karen were much better together. I have a hard time believing they would feel quite so neutered as Jim and Pam have together. And I say that having had a longstanding crush on Pam.

Well, you did do it twice. Though I like the idea of Dwight declaiming "Howl" in the office. B/c . . . why the hell not?

pardon me for a moment while I nerd out
Todd already pointed out Stargate was never better than Farscape. Hell, it didn't even deserve to be on the same channel. But Abed got it wrong, too. No matter how many times you watch Farscape, season one is never better than the others. More importantly, it wouldn't make any

Makes you wonder if was she in on the joke giving her SNL performance.

Interesting clip but it also comes across a little bit as a watered-down version of M.I.A.'s "Born Free" video, doesn't it?

I suppose I do like my scores. It's relatively rare that I'll go out and get a straight-up multi-artist soundtrack. But, hey, I included Urban Cowboy at least.

Since he was molested by a bird, I believe you meant, "cry fowl."

Well, there's my phrase for the week.

space: above and beyond
Gutsy is a good word to describe the finale of Space: Above and Beyond. It's one of the most heartbreaking finales I've ever seen. It's certainly one that did a wonderful job building off the characters and situations that had been developed over the course of the season. What victories there
