I read the headline and was going to post something about it being a Voltron of the tedious, but Van Dyke Parks is cool. Hey, for all I know Beck's dad is an ok dude, so…*shrugs*

Put down the lube; I'm pretty sure what they meant was closer to, say, The Dandy Warhols. That thing where bands decide that the best way to pay tribute to the creative, pioneering spirits of their idols is to try and sound (and dress) as much like them as possible, and not risk doing anything too, like, weird.
none of you people are pretending to be Leslie Knope; I am confused.
also you should just let them make little houses or aeroplanes or easter island statues out of the millennium falcon bricks. Or get a generic lego set (which I hope to god they still make) and let them make their own Star Wars stuff, if they want. It's meant to be creative, FFS! That's what makes it a good toy!
Moichandising! Where the real money from the movie is made.
I've never seen Star Wars. At least, not all the way through. But I got taken to the cinema as a kid to see Spaceballs (and have rewatched it like a million times because it ruled then and still does). There are loads of other cultural touchstones I only know as jokes or references. It never did me any harm. If…
hipster:)
that is literally the craziest thing i have ever read in my life
'That movie' has a name, dude. And it's 'Foodfight!', and I rewatched it a few days ago because I thought it would be funny, and I sort of know where you're coming from theoretically, but trust me there is a fucking enormous quality difference here.
Are family-friendly big-budget CGI flims based on popular toy franchises really the best place to be looking for edgy, boundary-breaking cinema, though? I'm not sure that quest is worthwhile.
Can confirm 'Mozza/Mozzer' was in UK music press use by the mid-90s. He probably hated it.
The latter, as encountered on a TV clip show when I was a small child…terrifying. Especially since I had a morbid fear of actual fire, which is what his hat was on. A lot of stuff from the psychedelic era is still pretty damn creepy to me, but I guess that's what they were going for…
The Cardiacs. Their entire output. I *adore* them, but (and maybe because) they unsettle me something fierce. Here's a fun video:
- skims article
- sees no mention of 'Foodfight!'
- leaves, disappointed
note to whoever fixes these things: the 'Disco Mystic and 'I Wanna Be Black' links seem to have gotten swapped around on page 1.
I came here for a spot of sacred cow-kicking, cause I'm kind of an asshole like that. But the ones I've played so far (not a huge fan, so they're all new to me) have been fun and weirdly charming. I have a pretty high tolerance for clunky 80s production (and I *love* that all-too-brief window of time when everybody…
I feel like the only person on this thread who is super-excited about this, without a pre-existing desire to have sex with either of these women. So, I am posting to register my non-sexual excitement at this news. Thank you.
WANT
Oh they ARE doing Homonym. I will make it happen. Somehow.
I don't know - I read Andy as a character who should basically never be around women, ever - but that's based on the better, earlier Office, when he was super-creepy and persistent. I think we were meant to forget all that when he got with the sweet, stupid, vulnerable orphan girl, but…damn, I was *so* happy when she…
