I believe it's mentioned that she has red hair, freckles, and an enviable build, but I don't think her facial features either pre- or post-accident are described (other than an unblemished chin).

James Incandenza - David Straitharn (only because Richard Jenkins is just a little too wizened)

I was not impressed by it. It says a lot about the book that the only parts I found illuminating were the quotes from Wallace himself.

Just finished Stench of Honolulu. It's a collection of one-liners that follow a perfunctory plot. I chuckled several times, but I thought Handey had it in him to write a genuinely great comic novel, a genre that's done well by few people.

Building Stories is wonderful; I un- and re-boxed it about three times before I started reading it, I was so blown away by the presentation.

Portland! Not from here, though; raised in NH, born in MA. IMO MA residents have the worst mouths of New England, and the study seems to agree. I've heard "fuck" pronounced "fahk" about a billion times in my relatively short life.

A. I'm a sucker for episodes in which Sarah Paulson crushes it.

I appreciated Lyndon as a well-written historical fiction short story, which don't pop up often, but something about it didn't click with me.

I just finished Girl with Curious Hair, which was the last of David Foster Wallace's work I had not yet read. It is without a doubt my least favorite of his, though "Little Expressionless Animals," "Say Never," and the title story I enjoyed well enough. I was on board with "Westward…" until the frustrating final

A little late on this, but if you find Josh Hamilton attractive and have not seen Kicking and Screaming, you should remedy that. Plus there's some mid-nineties Chris Eigeman, so unconventional hotness abounds.

*listens to 'Oh Comely,' feels ill*

Mini Charleston Chews, after having chilled in the freezer for a while.

I love Whoppers! I specifically love the strange, crackly mouth feeling that happens when you bite through the chocolate and the malt floods with moisture.

I've seen a tongue bleed from Sour Skittles. They are serious candy.

Just finished Giles Goat-Boy by John Barth. I liked it well enough, but felt it could have been better edited, as the latter third of the book is a slog. Thought-provoking as a parable, though that might not be the correct term due to its exceptional length/density.

IIRC one of his sons told him to change the ending, so he did. Can't remember if it was Owen or Joe, but I remember that being in the afterword.

In the same vein, Oedipa Maas.

@avclub-d6a67a3808af66a2c60a8d8cb41468db:disqus has it right.  I've failed so many times it doesn't even faze me anymore.

@avclub-94d8526a5fae933806f65b8a0f49301a:disqus  I've rewatched almost every show I've seen the full run of, but despite liking (often loving) LOST, I have no desire whatsoever to do so, and it's entirely due to the last season.  I've considered watching up to the 5th season finale, but ultimately the 6th season

If your understanding of the sex act involves copious weeping, "Do You Realize??" is the perfect choice.
