Lolita was the first bona fide 'classic' I read on my own (not for school), at 14.  Chuck Palahniuk was my favorite author.  I know it's cheesy as all hell to say one book can change a person's life, but Lolita changed mine.  I didn't know that books - old books! - could be that good.  Sounds silly now.

Choking and hair-pulling can be quite pleasurable when done correctly; when done incorrectly, not so much (re: throat bruises, split ends).  Spitting is the worst, IMO, just terrible, yet for some reason people seem to think the three go hand-in-hand.  I know why I like the things I like, but I won't presume to speak

Bif Naked! Haven't thought about them in years.  And a-YouTubing I go…

Every time I see your avatar, Neckbeard the Philatelist, I briefly think
it's Jim Gaffigan.  Then I realize I'm wrong, and wonder if anyone
makes the same mistake.

It looks like I'm quite alone in liking both the character of Joyce and the actress who plays her.  I've always thought she was a great friend for Peggy, there to ease her into the counterculture as well as to demonstrate that Peggy will never be that particular brand of 'hip.'

More in the sense that Paul Kinsey was a pompous ass who fancied himself a revolutionary, though I'd be happy to see him back on the show.  I imagine after he was passed over for Peggy he sank into mid-level obscurity at McCann.

But who would Frankenstein have unrealistically stilted sex conversations with?

You invented the five-dollar bill?!

I have considered buying matching Blue Barracuda shirts for my sister and myself.  Legends of the Hidden Temple was a cultural institution to people of a certain age.

Topatoco is the best.  I wear my Baba Yaga shirt pretty regularly in the warmer months.

As someone who also finds Harland Williams unfunny in films, I think his stand-up is actually worse.

I wasn't getting so much a Neko Case vibe as a Jenny Lewis one from the song up there. The only way Best Coast could have gotten better was by adding a dash of country, so I am quite excited.

Sex with her is going to be like a hot dog in a…town.

LOVE IT.

Geek Love!

I would buy The Hunger as a video game, assuming it was rated M for aging-but-still-hot-as-hell French starlet nudity.

Than Brave New World?  I'd say certainly.

Laughed more than I should have at this.

Libra is my favorite DeLillo of those I have read, and it makes an excellent companion piece to Ellroy's American Tabloid.

You've got to establish some boundaries!
